SIGMASOFT® Basic Training

The focus of this training is to learn the handling of SIGMASOFT®. Various exercises help to answer the following questions:

  • Introduction to SIGMASOFT®
    • How is the Graphical User Interface (GUI) structured and how do I use it?
  • The data structure of SIGMASOFT® projects
    • Where do I find the projects and how do I manage them?
  • Preparing geometries for simulation
    • When can I use SIGMASOFT® to create CAD and when do I need a CAD system
  • Mesh generation
    • Why can a 3D mesh in SIGMASOFT® show errors and still be good for my simulation?
  • Defining the process
    • What do I have to enter to reproduce my process in SIGMASOFT®?
  • Visualization of results/ Result perspective
    • How do I read, interrelate and interpret the results?

The courses are limited to a maximum number of 6 trainees and the SIGMA Academy is equipped with state of the art hardware, both to ensure a productive learning environment. Trainees will be able to set up projects in SIGMASOFT® and transfer the conclusions to their own processes.

DoE I Basic – Setup and Handling

The aim of this training is learning the basics of preparing and evaluating a DoE using SIGMASOFT®. Virtual DoE is not only a consistent continuation of our virtual molding technology, but also a revolutionary step that sets our software apart from the usual simulation approaches.

You will be able to find the optimal configuration for your simulation just by defining degrees of freedom and your general goals. This makes it very easy to find the perfect process parameters even before setting up the mold, which saves time as well as money.

The implementation of the SIGMASOFT® concept will be discussed with the help of illustrative examples. In addition, further innovations of the current SIGMASOFT® version will be introduced during the training.

Stress I Basic – Shrinkage & Warpage

How does the injection molding process influence the shrinkage and warpage of the part? Is it reasonable to adopt the cavity geometry to compensate for the warpage?

If yes, to what extent? As a design/production engineer or manufacturer of injection molds you deal with questions of that kind every day.

The Stress I Basic training is a chance to refresh your basics and deepen your knowledge on how to predict warpage with SIGMASOFT®. We present our guidelines that help you evaluate various scenarios you may face on the way from designing the plastic part up to the production phase – and successfully manage this to make the right decisions with the help of SIGMASOFT®.

Stress II Advanced

The Stress II Advanced training is the continuation of our one-day basic course and is construed for experienced SIGMASOFT® users involved in the planning, design and implementation of plastic parts and the associated molds.

During the training, the development process from the quoting phase to the validation of the mold will be discussed with an example from the industry. The training focuses on a methodical procedure in the evaluation of shrinkage and warpage with SIGMASOFT® and how to act on the findings. During the course, a guideline, which will help to coordinate the resources available in SIGMASOFT® with the questions and requirements for the finished component, will be developed.
